Our Wonderful LORD

Hebrews 1.1-12

The new covenant that Christ Jesus brought into effect is more wonderful than we can imagine. The Book of Hebrews speaks of this.

The opening section of this letter give us an overview of Who Jesus is.

1. The Son of God vs.1-2a

The Old Testament was from Moses to Malachi

John 1.17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Jesus= Yeshua, Joshua, Deliverer/Savior; Christ=the Anointed One

His Son- God in the flesh v.6

Later in our walk through Hebrews we will read Hebrews 4.14-15
sympathize= to be affected with he same feeling as another, to feel for, to have compassion on
our weaknesses= lack of strength, to restrain from corrupt desires, bear trials and trouble

Jesus has compassion on you, where you are weak, where you lack strength. He never sinned but He was tempted in those areas. He understands our struggle against sin. He is praying for you. Romans 8.34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus Who died, more than that is also risen is at the right hand of God making intercession for us.

Listen to His words to Peter after Peter says that even if everyone denies Him he will not.
Luke 22.31-32 "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.

2. Christ Jesus is the Heir of all things.
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me- Matthew 28.28

Psalm 24.1 The earth is the LORD's and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.

Heir= One who receives His allotted possession by right of Sonship.
Galatians 4.7b since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.
II Timothy 2.12 if we endure, we will also reign with Him.

3. Christ Jesus is the Creator of the Universe.
All things were made through Him.- John 1.3
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth
Isaiah 40.26-27 Stop looking down, look up!
Colossians 1.16
Revelation 4.11

4. In Christ we see the Father.
The Son is the Radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His Being.
John 14.5-14 If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father.

5. He finished the work of redemption on the cross.
He provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in Heaven.
All offerings in Leviticus were fulfilled in Christ's death. His Work was completed.
Now He is working through us. Acts 1.1 All that Jesus began...

He is with us. He is working through us by His Spirit. He is praying for us. He is coming for us!
